"The children found the morning with you extremely interesting. We already study WWII in year 6 as a History topic and having done a week of further activities about WWII it was refreshing for the children to look at an entirely different aspect. Some of the children had asked me that week why we always learn about the suffering of British people and not about their contribution to the war so your content fitted in perfectly with what the children wanted to learn about. We thoroughly enjoyed the dancing and I was really pleased to see that your enthusiasm encouraged even the most reluctant children to join in. I think the use of the characters worked really well and allowed the children to get a real understanding of what it was like for Hank and Aggie. I would definately recommend your workshop to other schools and would love to work with you both again."

The workshop leader’s had a real depth of subject knowledge; they were very clear and took the time to help those that struggled. We also got very useful resources today to pass this subject knowledge on through our pedagogy. Things like music, PowerPoint’s, video clips and clips of the practical that was learnt throughout the day were extremely useful for this.
The knowledge and understanding of dance from another period and culture was very useful practically in that we were taken through different flavours and styles of Lindy, through to jazz steps and the incorporation of those.
I feel like I have really developed my subject knowledge today and dance from another period and culture, not only the historical context of Lindy Hop but more importantly the key steps and stylistic qualities of the style.  I will be able to use what I have learnt to plan my own workshops and lessons in Lindy Hop.  Really appreciated the demonstration by the workshop leaders at the beginning and end of the workshop to demonstrate how the key steps and flavours are applied.  Thanks for a brilliant day.
Wow: Lindy Hop – I’m hooked.  What a fabulous workshop and expertly delivered.  Really appreciate how Sian and Julian made my students feel special and made them feel a real sense of achievement.  The progress of my students in such a short space of time was outstanding.  Can’t wait to use what I’ve learnt and what my students have learnt to create a Lindy Hop piece for our VE Day choreography.  Brilliant, inspiring and thanks.
